A Letter from the Head Coach: What is Club Sport Tackle Football?
Club Sport Tackle Football is a way for athletes who played high school football but did not get a scholarship to go to college the opportunity to play the sport they love while attending an outstanding institution like Columbus State University. This is the debut season for Club Sport Tackle Football at Columbus State University.
Club Sport Tackle Football is an 11-man tackle football team that competes against other colleges or universities that has a club team or we will play their schools Junior Varsity team. However, a club football team is not affiliated with the school athletic department. The team falls under the Department of Campus Recreation.
Most club football teams do not have a budget, but they do receive some funding from the Department of Campus Recreation. However, this funding is not enough to cover all the team expenses. The players are responsible for paying for their own equipment, practice and game uniform as well as providing their own transportation to and from all away games. In order to play on the club team you must be a facility member, member of the school staff or a student at the school. We hope that with your support the team will continue to grow in popularity and in numbers.
Thank you for coming out and supporting the team and we hope you enjoy the game.
